| A
monitor from Croatia noticed that boxes of Hipp and Bebemil
infant and follow-up formulas say that they are for mothers 'who don't
have enough milk' or 'have milk that is of low quality'. In my experience,
she said, that leads mothers to abandon breastfeeding. It's like
this: "When mum gives a supplemental feed to the baby, her body starts
'thinking' that the child needs less breastmilk, therefore it produces
less milk and the baby will need more and more supplemental formula. The
result? The mother worries about milk insufficiency and stops
breastfeeding altogether. This happened to a lot of women I know." |
