World Breastfeeding Week Around the World: Georgia     World Breastfeeding Week in other countries

Child Rights Protection Association “CLARITAS XXI:(IBFAN Georgian Group)

“CLARITAS XXI” is committed to defending the rights of all children by ensuring safe and adequate healthcare for mothers and their children in not only Georgia but throughout the former Soviet Union countries.  In order to uphold this vision, CLARITAS strives to continue to be one of the leaders in children and women’s healthcare by expanding its modern and innovative methods of reproductive health and family planning counselling, Pediatric training, monitoring and evaluation, community education programs, and legislation reform efforts.  By building a strong network with the local community, government, and international organizations, CLARITAS hopes to make baby-friendly delivery rooms, reintegration of disabled children, and healthy start for children a reality for all. 

“CLARITAS” almost every year conducts WBW in assistance with UNICEF. 

This year “CLARITAS” has planned to celebrate WBW in October 1-7. The WBW topic will be Code Watch 25 years of protecting breastfeeding. In the frames of WBW it is purposed the following activities to be fulfilled.

      Preparation of Press Release on the orientation of 2006 WBW activities.
     
To make announcement of the theme of WBW to encourage interested individuals and organization to participate in the events.
      To highlight to the press/TV about the Code and Georgian Law and WBW.
      Spreading of the breastfeeding message to the public. Dissemination of leaflets, brochures, posters.
      Involvement of NGO Regional Networks in WBW celebrating process by organizing the appropriate activities.
      Arrangement of the conference, where the representatives of governmental structures, international and local non-governmental organizations, stakeholders, authorities, administrational representatives of designated baby-friendly hospitals and mass-media will be invited. The conference will also be attended by breastfeeding mothers and babies. Within the conference the presentation on Code/Law monitoring results with examples of violations will be made to explain how they undermine breastfeeding. During the conference the award ceremony will take place of the Maternity Houses which gained the baby-friendly hospital title on the result of 2005 conducted assessment.

WABA: Protects, Promotes and Supports Breastfeeding Worldwide The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network of individuals and organisations concerned with the protection, promotion and support  of breastfeeding worldwide. WABA action is based on the Innocenti Declaration, the Ten Links for Nurturing the Future and the Global Strategy for Infant & Young Child Feeding. Its core partners are IBFAN, LLLI,  ILCA,  Wellstart International,  ABM and LINKAGES. Find out more at the WABA website.
