World Breastfeeding Week Around the World: Hong Kong (2)World Breastfeeding Week in other countries

We are a team of professional midwives working in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH), the New Territories East Cluster (NTEC), Hospital Authority, Hong Kong. It is an acute regional hospital in the NTEC as well as the teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Under the leadership of our Department Operational Manager (D.O.M.) Ms Chu Yuet Wah, we have participated in many World Breastfeeding Week celebrative activities in the past according to the theme of the WBW each year. We are very keen on promoting and protecting breastfeeding in our hospital and the community.

2006 WBW celebrative events in the PWH

Large Banner Display (at the taxi stand to increase public awareness on benefits of breastfeeding)
Breastfeeding Exhibition Boards (at common areas in PWH to educate the public & staff)
Breastfeeding Seminar on August 7, 2006
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Breastfeeding Sharing Session with the Health Care Assistants  of PWH








 
Special Souvenirs to Participants of Breastfeeding Seminar:

 Home-made cookies in the shape of a ribbon (resembling the logo for 2004 WBW-Exclusive breastfeeding: the Gold Standard) with attractive stickers bearing the 2006 WBW logo in packages. We do not use commercially available cookies in order to show our enthusiasm and active participation through this innovative idea to inspire all the participants on their awareness of the Code (approval has been granted by WABA to use the logo)
