The success
of WBW can partly be attributed to its campaign materials, in
particular the action folder and also to the WABA website.
 The
WBW Action Folder is a unique 6 page brochure that gives an exciting
description of the year's theme and a menu of WBW action ideas
for groups to choose from for their WBW events. The ideas normally
cater to a range of audiences so that the different professions
and sectors of society (e.g. health, education, government etc.)
can participate in the Week. For Action Folders and other WBW
materials, click on the respective year at the left panel to view
or download.
The WABA
Secretariat produces the action folder in at least four languages
(English, French, Spanish and Chinese) and encourages translations
into other languages, sometimes through seedgrants but mostly
through the distribution of a reproduction package containing
the text and artwork in CD and on hard copy.
The popularity
of the action folder is evident in its widespread distribution
and multiple language versions. More than 25,000 copies are distributed
each year, not including the production of national language versions
by partner groups. In 1994, 12 language versions were produced.
By 1999 the number increased to 16. In 2004, 20 language versions
were recorded.
 The
WABA website (www.waba.org.my)
plays an important role in helping to spread information on the
WBW themes way ahead of time to enable national groups to prepare
for their events. The
website contains the WBW theme information, the action folder
text and brochure in several languages including images that groups
can download to produce their own WBW popular materials.
We hope that
this package will inspire all those who seek to act in support
of breastfeeding and to promote the health and rights of mothers
and children in a diversity of creative ways.

The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) is a global network of individuals
& organisations concerned with the protection, promotion & support of breastfeeding worldwide.
WABA action is based on the Innocenti Declaration, the Ten Links for Nurturing the Future and the
Global Strategy for Infant & Young Child Feeding. WABA is in consultative status with UNICEF & an NGO
in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).
